A note from Mark Waechter

I'm not a virtual person. I run the shop. I do all the grinding and ski work, ski testing and selection. It's primarily a one-man show at Ultratune though I sometimes get a little help with ski testing in the winter and some occasional help around the store.

Pictures of friends (and me) are sprinkled throughout the website.

My professional background includes a long time spent as a research, design, and development engineer (aerospace, medical, commercial), primarily designing electronics (sensors, circuits, systems) but also some mechanisms, algorithms, etc, with more than a dozen international patents. I have a strong background in the techy stuff. I'm also a skier and cyclist. I've worked as a ski tech at the world cup level, and at the Olympics, and have a lot of experience with ski testing and prep. I try to make the preparation of fast skis a science as well as an art. I love what I'm doing at Ultratune and it keeps me fully occupied!
